During NRPA's Congress & Exposition in Reno, Nev., Oct. 12-16, two technology companies who serve the park and recreation field merged. On Oct. 13, Class Software Solutions, Ltd., joined the Active Network, whose parent company, RecWare, offers recreation management software. The acquisition of Class Software will combine the companies' products and services, leaving the newly formed group to pursue opportunities overseas, says Matt Landa, president of the Active Network. "Instead of duplicating our efforts, we're going to be moving much more quickly to come out with better produces, faster," he said. They are also looking into new technology based on the needs of the park and recreation field. Landa said Active identified Class as a leader in recreation software technology more than four years ago. "From our standpoint, we've always thought they would be a great partner to work with," he said.
