Infinera has broadened its service offerings with a new tributary adapter module (TAM) for the Infinera DTN platform and new software features to give added flexibility to an existing TAM. A new eight-port gigabit Ethernet TAM enables the Infinera DTN to offer greater capacity and density for Gigabit Ethernet, one of the fastest-growing and most economical services in the telecom market today. The Gigabit Ethernet TAM also supports full performance monitoring capability.
The Infinera DTN can now deliver up to 320 Gigabit Ethernet ports, along with all supporting WDM line-side equipment, in a single bay, resulting in one of the greatest Gigabit Ethernet densities for a core DWDM transport system.
The new eight-port Gigabit Ethernet TAM can be deployed by customers to enable fast-growing services such as: large-scale/high-bandwidth Ethernet private line services for enterprise applications; rollout of triple-play services for cable/MSO networks including video on demand (VoD) and next-generation high-bandwidth cable modem backhaul; and Ethernet backhaul for xDSL broadband and 3G wireless services.
Infinera's commitment to Ethernet is further illustrated by the company's membership in the Ethernet Alliance, an organisation dedicated to driving the industry towards broader implementation and adoption of Ethernet worldwide.
