Access Management Appliance regulates access to network

Offered in versions that support 100, 500, and 2,500 concurrent users, SafeWord[R] SecureWire(TM) identity and access management appliance acts as access, authentication, and compliance hub for entire network. It provides secure access management for inside and outside perimeter, consolidating all policies on single device. Hub also offers configuration compliance to ensure only properly configured end-point devices can access network. Reporting capabilities help meet auditing regulations.

SecureWire manages all internal and external access points on a single appliance while reducing costs

San Jose, CA, April 25, 2006 - Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), the experts in securing connections between people, applications and networks(TM) today announced the launch of its powerful SafeWord[R] SecureWire(TM) identity and access management (IAM) appliance - the access, authentication and compliance hub for the entire network. SecureWire simplifies and provides secure access management for inside and outside the perimeter by consolidating all policies on a single device and enables configuration compliance that ensures only properly configured end-point devices can access the network. SafeWord SecureWire is a new, robust technology offered by Secure Computing into the IAM market that IDC values at $4 billion by 2009.

IDC defines the IAM market as a comprehensive set of solutions used to identify users in a system and control their access to resources within that system by associating user rights and restrictions with the established identity.

Secure Computing's SecureWire is designed to simplify access to applications, data and network resources without compromising security by hosting and managing all external access methods on a single appliance: VPNs, Citrix applications, extranets, Web mail and much more. SecureWire can also host and manage all internal access methods as well: LAN connections, wireless LANs and even mainframes. By having one comprehensive appliance to control your access methods, both inside and outside of your network, administrative and maintenance costs can be greatly reduced.

"IDC research shows continued growth in the Identity and Access Management market," said Sally Hudson, research manager at IDC. "Secure Computing's new SecureWire appliance should provide a good fit with the requirements of many companies looking to streamline the way they provide access to their networks. IDC anticipates that there will be increasing interest in IAM appliance products as companies search for easy to deploy, cost effective secure solutions."

A key component of managing identity is authenticating users. SafeWord[R] industry-leading strong authentication comes standard with every SecureWire appliance to deliver proof-positive identity of all users. SafeWord strengthens network connectivity with strong, one time password user authentication included in the base product. SecureWire also provides native support for Active Directory, LDAP and RADIUS while supporting a wide range of authenticators, including smart cards, biometric devices and a range of third-party tokens.

"Secure Computing has always provided us with the most powerful security products to protect our networks," said Tony Lucich, manager Network Services Division, County of Orange, CA. "SecureWire is keeping up with that tradition by offering a single secure appliance for access management."

With tight integration to Active Directory, SecureWire is ideal for the growing number of organizations that manage IT in a Microsoft environment. Companies can easily manage user identities by leveraging their existing Microsoft tools and applications.

In today's corporate environments companies must devote significant time and resources to achieving compliance with numerous legislative mandates. Unfortunately, improper or outdated configuration of servers, software and workstations can undermine even the strictest security policy. SecureWire provides a reliable mechanism to enable configuration compliance; enforcing every end-point device to adhere to corporate IT policy, including work PCs, laptops, home PCs, servers and workstations. Only properly configured, properly secured devices are granted access, making sure that system patches, anti-virus software and firewall protection are all in place. SecureWire offers total access control by applying a single security policy to all global access methods, which greatly simplifies rollout and enforcement. SecureWire's integrated reporting capabilities allows businesses to meet stringent auditing regulations; every access, authentication and authorization request can be reported-on the LAN, over the VPN, over the Web, across every access point in the network.

"With the launch of SecureWire, Secure Computing is ideally positioned in a broad and dynamic market projected to grow at a significant pace," said Jay Goldlist, vice president and general manager of Identity, Access and SMB Products for Secure Computing. "With SafeWord SecureWire and our Sidewinder G2[R] and SnapGear(TM) line of UTM appliance solutions, Secure Computing is uniquely positioned in offering the premier solutions for extending and defending customer's networks and applications."
