Device Servers network-enable serial-based devices

Serial-to-Ethernet converters provide either Fast Ethernet fiber interface or 10/100Mbps Ethernet copper interface and are offered in 4 model families. Models supporting RS-422/485 are capable of 2-wire half-duplex or 4-wire full-duplex asynchronous data transmission. Device servers also provide distributed and scalable solution with 256 virtual COM ports control from one device and are remotely manageable via Telnet, Web browser, or command line interface.

Both Industrial and Office Grade Versions Available

LAS VEGAS, May 2 -- The conversion technology and switching expert, Transition Networks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc., today announced the release of its new device server product line. These serial-to-Ethernet converters enable customers to integrate existing serial-based devices into their Ethernet networks located in either the office environment or on the factory floor.

"The ability to network-enable virtually any serial-based device both quickly and cost-effectively allows our customers to preserve their investment in legacy equipment," said Bill Schultz, vice president of marketing for Transition Networks. "And, with the addition of the hardened device server models to our Industrial switch and media converter portfolio, we now offer customers even more flexibility for integrating fiber into their networks."
