XPress to deploy Tellabs solutions in core transmission network in
XPress, an integrated wireless communications operator, has chosen to deploy Tellabs solutions in its core transmission network. XPress will provide a new digital radio trunking service, scheduled to launch in Jordan in April 2004. The Tellabs solutions will help XPress maximize use of network resources, reduce operating expenses and add new customers easily, quickly and accurately.
Through distributor Northern Digital Telecom, XPress has purchased the Tellabs(R) 6300 managed transport system and the Tellabs(R) 8100 managed access system, including the Tellabs(R) 8100 network manager. The Tellabs 8100 manager provides centralized end-to-end integrated network management of both Tellabs 6300 and 8100 product families, enabling customers to lower operations cost, provide services faster, restore services automatically and increasenetwork availability.
"The Tellabs solution was chosen through our Request for Quotation process in 2003. Tellabs' offering convinced us due to its integrated network management and its flexible platform, which will allow us to deploy transmission redundancy so we can ensure high availability of service to our customers," explained Curt De Gourville, chief technical officer, XPress. "I am confident the Tellabs equipment will support the company's business plansin Jordan."
XPress deploys the iDEN technology (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) to provide trunked radio dispatch service. The service will offer both full mobile services and dispatch services (push-to- talk), which will enable subscribers to communicate through one-to- one and one-to-many by pressing a single button. In addition, services such as Short Message Service (SMS), Global Positioning System (GPS) and Data Packet will be offered.
