IEC award recognises Neat feat

Brand-Rex Optical Cabling Engineer Rosamund Neat has received a prestigious award from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC's 1906 award was established in commemoration of the IEC's year of foundation and honours IEC technical experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC. The award also recognises exceptional and recent achievements related to the activities of the IEC and which contribute in a significant way to advancing the work of the commission.

The IEC develops international standards with the support of technical experts from industry who contribute their experience and knowledge to the process.

Ros has been a UK expert on fibre optics in the IEC since 1991 and is currently convener of the international group (IEC SC86A WG3) producing standards for optical cables.

Brand-Rex is strongly committed to the development, use and promotion of well-developed international standards and provides UK experts through BSI for both optical fibre and copper technologies.

'This is great news for Ros, whose work is crucial in maintaining Brand-Rex at the leading edge of optical networking technologies', commented Brand-Rex Technical and Operations Director Iain Ballingall.

'We are very proud that her work has been recognised by such a prestigious international organisation', he added.

'I am delighted to be receiving such a high profile award from the IEC and its UK counterpart, the British Electrotechnical Committee', commented Neat.

'Brand-Rex is committed to developing optical fibre cabling technologies and their continued support has enabled me to facilitate the international team of experts in the IEC to deliver real technical progress'. Bankruptcy
