FiberNet leveraging the growth of "on-demand" network solutions segment
Provides customized translational cross connect to meet FLAG's protocol conversion needs
FiberNet Telecom Group Inc., a provider of complex interconnection services, announced that it has successfully implemented a customized translational cross-connect for FLAG Telecom, a leading provider of international network transport, connectivity, and data services.
"An increasing number of our clients like FLAG are demanding customized services and solutions that go beyond the portfolios of traditional service providers," said Jon A. DeLuca, President and CEO of FiberNet. "FiberNet, with its flexibility and willingness to cater to non-standard requests, is well-positioned to leverage the growth of this on-demand network solutions segment."
FLAG required a network solution that would allow them to leverage the next-generation Ethernet services available in North America while also conforming to the international transmission protocol standards. In response, FiberNet recommended a highly customized translational cross-connect solution which allows FLAG to establish interconnections between varying means of data exchange.
"We have seen a tremendous increase in demand for wavelength capacity across the Atlantic in the first half of 2005," said Peter Boland, SVP Engineering and Network Planning of FLAG. "To meet this demand, we needed to extend bi-directional STM-1 to GigE protocol conversion across the network and also extend our Gigabit Ethernet circuit on the metro network in New York City. FiberNet has been our FA-1 SONET/SDH interconnection partner for many years, and we awarded these new projects with full confidence in their innovative capabilities. The solution implemented by FiberNet is not provided by many players in this industry. By delivering this solution, FiberNet has gone beyond the traditional service provider role. They have demonstrated, once again, their expertise and commitment to provide customer-focused solutions."
"FLAG is one of our most valued customers, and we are pleased to have met their requirements once again," added Jon DeLuca. "We strive to meet the evolving needs of all of our customers and are proud to have delivered an efficient and reliable solution to FLAG's complex request."
